Job Summary

The Computer Technology Faculty Chair along with the Dean of Mathematics and Sciences provides leadership for quality instruction at the Littleton Campus, Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock, Legacy Campus in Lone Tree, and Online, in addition to providing support to the Concurrent Enrollment Chair for quality instruction offered within partnering high schools and early colleges within the disciplines of Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer & Networking Technology (CNG), Computer Science (CSC), and Computer Web-Based (CWB). The Computer Technologies Chair works closely with the Dean of Mathematics and Sciences, other administrative leaders on campus, ACC faculty & subject matter experts, and colleagues in Student Affairs to provide consistency in instruction and outcomes for the college.

The Faculty Department Chair responsibilities are in addition to the duties outlined in the faculty member's job description. The Faculty Department Chair works an additional 57 days on top of the 9-month contract/166 contract days in an academic year. Department Chairs will teach at least one 3-credit course per year as part of base compensation. They may teach up to one additional course (3-5 adjusted credits) each semester as overload. Qualifications
  • The Faculty Department Chair must have a credential in at least one discipline offered at Arapahoe Community College. See the Faculty and Instructor Qualifications for a list of approved qualifications.
  • Experience teaching and/or training various subjects within the discipline.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized communities such as people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, first-generation students, and people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a form that is appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies.
  • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
  • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces.
  • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats.
  • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations.

Additional Information

Compensation for the Faculty Department Chair is based on the 2024-2025 hiring range for a faculty role, and anticipated to be $61,175 - $98,408 for the initial 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The anticipated compensation range for the Faculty Department Chair stipend is $28,429 - $35,072. The Faculty Department Chair stipend is calculated using the actual base salary of the faculty member who holds the role. Salary will be prorated for the number of contract days worked.

This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. Refer to AP 3-55 Faculty Salary Plan regarding salary placement and adjustments.
