AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY-INSTRUCTOR
The Automotive Technology Department at Brookdale Community College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position in Automotive to begin Fall 2023. The department welcomes candidates who are committed to Brookdale’s mission of success and academic excellence and who desire to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. In addition to excellent academic credentials and subject area knowledge, candidates will bring to the College a love of teaching; an enthusiastic desire to assist students; and an eagerness to contribute to the BCC community. Candidates will demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning, inside and outside of the classroom.
At least an AS/AAS degree in Automotive Technology or a related field plus six years of relevant automotive service industry experience required OR, with no college degree/an unrelated college degree, 10 years of relevant automotive service industry experience required. Successful candidate must be fully ASE certified in the eight automotive areas. Willingness to maintain appropriate automotive certifications and attend classes to meet the extensive training requirements of our General Motors program. Evidence of well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities. Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus. Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs. Commitment to continued professional growth and departmental service and departmental leadership. Evidence of understanding about and commitment of the philosophy of a comprehensive community college. Evidence of technical literacy and a demonstrated willingness to maintain skills as technology changes. Formal teaching/training experience is preferred. An individual with strong and consistent interest in environmental issues as they relate to Automotive Technology as well as emerging technologies. The ability to teach all aspects of Automotive Technology, including electricity/electronics, fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine repair, automatic and manual transmissions and HVAC. A familiarity with the Learning Management System Canvas and the video conferencing tool Zoom.
Annual Salary – Mid to high $60’s with benefits. (Faculty Members teaching extra courses or working additional hours during the academic year and in the summer receive additional compensation.)
