GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nursing Faculty Mentor will have responsibility for supporting and assisting nursing faculty (mentors and mentees) with their role by fostering an environment of mutual respect, trust, and understanding of the academic role of a nursing faculty member. This Faculty Mentor will demonstrate strong leadership, program planning, and organizational skills and will be able to work effectively and efficiently with mentor and mentee. The position requires a high level of commitment to the Nursing Program.

COMPENSATION: $56.50 per hour; up to 18 hours per week during the Academic Year (late August to June). Non-benefitted, MCCC Unit Position. Grant Funded through September 2024 by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under grant # 1-T1QHP47310-01-0 via a subaward from University of Massachusetts Chan Medical school under grant # SUB00000239. The subaward is in the amount of $175,000 with 100% funding from the federal award and 0% from nongovernmental sources.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide and/or guide faculty to resources and meaningful connections to be used in the classroom, applicable to clinical/campus laboratory, following the guidelines of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
- Assist in the maintenance of faculty resources via Moodle platform and faculty mentoring handbook.
- Assist with maintenance of faculty systematic evaluation plan documents in SharePoint.
- Plan meetings with mentors and mentees that facilitate and foster a sense of community between mentors and mentees, completing the faculty work expected with systematic evaluation planning (SEP).
- Act as voice for mentors and mentees, bringing to Nursing Program any concerns, questions, or considerations on their behalf.
- Track mentor survey responses and evaluation of the Nursing Program mentoring process for clinical evaluations and overall program evaluation.
- Identify, recruit, and track preceptors and clinical faculty.
- Identify and recruit academic and clinical partners from a variety of care settings.
- Assist in part-time faculty recruiting efforts for the next academic year and/or as needed.
- Promote Teaching of Tomorrow (TOT) and facilitate registration with the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing.
- Assist faculty with curriculum development, support, and training activities, including continuous feedback and re-design.
- Participate in evaluation efforts of the New England Nursing-Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy (NENCFPA) including the evaluation of faculty/preceptors, including strategies to address sustainability and replication.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or eligibility for Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure.
- Master's degree in nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution OR master's degree in healthcare with Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) Certificate.
- Five years of full-time nursing education experience in a college level nursing program.
- Knowledge of SEP process, BORN regulations, and ACEN standards.
- Experience with SharePoint.
- Recent teaching experience in a college-level nursing program and/or clinical/staff education setting.
- Commitment to support a student-centered, outcome-based approach to education.
- Experience with the integration of technology as well as active and collaborative learning strategies in the teaching-learning process.
- Experience in the assessment of learning outcomes at the course, program, and college levels.
- Experience in development, implementation, and evaluation of program and college-related and or healthcare policies.
- Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
- Appreciation for and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
- Experience with the integration of both high and moderate fidelity human patient simulations in the teaching-learning process.
- Experience in NECHE and ACEN accreditation processes.
