The purpose of this position is to assist academic departments with program development, advisement, interpretation, and implementation of CCBC policies and procedures.
Bachelor's required, master's degree preferred. Two (2) years of full-time experience working in higher education, preferably in a community college setting. Experience helping new students transition into a college setting and academic advising experience preferred. Evenings and weekends are required during peak registration periods.
This positions will be located on our Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville, or Owings Mills campuses.

- Provide holistic case management and evaluate students' progress, develop strategic academic and career plans, and assist students with reaching desired academic, career, financial, and social goals.
- Disseminate information on CCBC policies, services and procedures to faculty, parents and students etc.; specifically maintain a working knowledge of FERPA, COMAR and MHEC regulations.
- Assess transcripts and give preliminary unofficial assessment of transfer credits to determine placement.
- Evaluate CCBC/internal transcripts and advise students on educational planning.
- Collect and evaluate data on special populations and provide follow-up interventions including the preparation of special reports, as required.
- Maintain student records and files, including documentation of individual student contacts / meetings based on an evaluation of record.
- Coordinate workshops and presentations as required including professional development for college community, including faculty, through trainings.
- Teach students how to use/navigate the registration, advising and transfer technology in advising computer labs/group settings and assist in overseeing the advising lab operation.
- Create innovative programs for advisors and students using the latest available technology.
- Provide appropriate referrals to internal and external resources and services to support student's educational planning.
Position Specific Essential Duties:
- Help students navigate their academic experience by assisting with proactive academic and career planning, creative problem solving, and connection to student resources.
- Conduct individual advising sessions via phone, virtually online, or in-person meetings.
- Conduct group advising sessions, advising workshops, and/or co-sponsor events with faculty and other college departments.
- Effectively use data management systems to make data driven decisions and to document student meetings and notes.
- Monitor student caseload to ensure students' progression toward their educational goal is monitored to address academic persistence, engagement, and completion.
- Assist students with matching career goals and program/course offerings.
- Meet with academic probation and/or reinstated suspension students to assist them to conduct self-assessment and develop an academic success plan.
- Advise students on registration, course selection, academic programs, and elective selections.
- Design and provide early interventions identifying and communicating with “at-risk” students identified by faculty, other student-facing departments or through student self-identification.
- Provides career advisement and registration for students, which require ascertaining students' goals, and assisting in planning for goal attainment.
- Administer and/or interpret career assessments; maintain up to date knowledge of career, labor market and job search trends.
- Stay abreast of college academic, career and transfer advising policies and procedures.
- Establish and work on goals intended to improve the Academic Advisement Office and the student experience.
- Make suggestions for program improvements based on data and student feedback.
- Serve on department and/or other meetings.
